The Techiman Municipal Assembly in collaboration with the leaders of the Techiman Market Association and other authorities is establishing Satellite Markets in the Techiman Municipality with a 6metres demarcation to ensure the social distancing as a preventive measure from the spread of the deadly Coronavirus pandemic.
This came after an announcement of the temporal close down of the Techiman Market by the Techiman Municipal Assembly.
Speaking in an interview with BRIDGE NEWS GH, the Municipal Information Officer, Mr Aziz Abubakari disclosed that the move was established to ensure that marketers observed the social distancing.
Mr Abubakari said the virus is so dangerous that if measures of such are not taken, it can easily be contracted by people.
“The Municipality and the Region as a whole are still thanking God Almighty for not recording a case here but this does not mean that we are safe. It is for this reason that, with advice from health professionals and other authorities, we had to come out with a plan to establish demarcated 3satelite markets of which one of them will be at the Methodist Park, another at Jarko Park and the last at Zongo LA Park. These Satellite Markets will be for the meantime, and if the need is for more to be added, time will be taken to consider that” Mr Abubakari explained.
According to him, the security and other officials will be deployed to supervise the demanded social distancing in the said satellite markets to be established.
“We are aware of the difficulty involved in dealing with humans, per this we will make sure that authorities and directives were given work. This is going to be one of the biggest problems that we anticipate but people must bear in mind that we are not doing this to satisfy ourselves, we are rather doing this to ensure that we are safe from this deadly pandemic that has befallen the country and the world at large”
