FREE CASHEW SEEDLINGS DISTRIBUTED TO FARMERS 

In the quest of the Assembly to support farmers under Government flagship policy Planting for Export and Rural Development, the Techiman Municipal Assembly has nursed twenty- five thousand (25000) cashew seedlings for free distribution to farmers in the Municipality.

Speaking at an event to distribute the seedlings on 7th June2022, Hon. Benjamin Yaw Gyarko recounted that the Assembly has nursed and distributed over four hundred thousand (400,000) free cashew seedlings to farmers in the Municipality since 2018 when the program commenced.
He assured them that, the Assembly shall continue to provide extension services to the beneficiaries to ensure proper nurturing of the seedlings.
He advised the farmers and the youth to be motivated by the guaranteed price fixed by government for cashew to join the program.

He added that, the objective of the program is to put money in the pocket of the Ghanaian and also to reduce unemployment rate. He therefore charged the beneficiaries to adopt good farming practices to ensure the sustenance of the seedlings.
He said the Assembly has invested a lot of money in the nursing of the seedlings and pleaded with them not to allow it to go waste.
