It was a very busy day for him as he commenced his official duties as the MCE in the Municipality.
He first reported to the Regional Minister’s Office as protocols demand and was warmly received by the Regional Coordinating Director, Mr. Mensah George Padmore who informed him that the Regional Minister was off to Accra for an official Assignment.
After an exchange of pleasantries, Mr. Padmore advised him to bring innovative ways to improve revenue generation in the Municipality.
In a reciprocity, the MCE assured him of his readiness to improve revenue generation internally to complement the Central Government District Assembly Common Fund to enable him to solve the problems of sanitation, roads, lighting and general infrastructure within the municipality.
Together with the Municipal Coordinating Director, they visited over thirty-One departments under the the municipality.
These included, Municipal Planning Coordinating Office, Registry, Communication, Human Resource, Town and Country Planning, Environmental Health Office, Revenue Office, Community Development Office, NADMO, NCCE, Youth Employment Agency, the Ausdit Service, Works Dept. , Stool Lands, School Feeding, Procurement, Water and Sanitation, Social Welfare, Treasury etc. The Municipal Coordinating Director introduced Hon. Benjamin Yaw Gyarko to the workers in the various departments as the newly confirmed and sworn-in MCE for the Municipality. These received a spontaneous applause from the workers in the offices he visited indicating their readiness to work with him for the development of Techiman.
He subsequently had a meeting with all the Heads of Departments in the Municipality .
At 02:00 p.m, the MCE met MUSEC consisting of the Municipal Security capos behind close doors. It included, the Military, the Police Service,the Immigration Service, Fire Service and the National Security.
He proceeded later on a field trip with the HOD for Environmental Health, Zoomlion boss, the Coordinating Director, the Presiding Member for Techiman South and the Municipal Engineer to the Waste disposal site at Ayimana, Kumasi main station and main market to ascertain for himself the unsanitary nature of the areas.
They were greeted with joy by the people seeing them visiting the areas.
