Hon. Gyarko after assumption of office made a promise to constantly engage the media on quarterly bases to debrief them on the happenings in the municipality. He assured the media of his readiness to interact and to share ideas with them on issue that will bring development to the municipality.
He stress that his doors are always open at all times especially to the media, he encourage them to always call on him any time for discussion. Participants of the meeting were carefully selected across sectors in the municipality, these participants includes:
The Media, Traditional Authorities, Assembly members, members of the new patriotic Party (NPP), Queen mothers, identifiable groups and all heads of department in the municipality were invited to grace the occasion and to share their contributions, experience and also seek for clarifications on matters bordering their minds.
The MCE took participants through a power point presentation to show case the Assembly’s achievement made so far in his first hundred days in office, he also highlight on activities yet to be executed in 2022. The presentation focus on seven (7) key thematic Areas such as:
- Community engagements
- Infrastructural development
- Security
- Sanitation
- Revenue Mobilization
- Decongestion of markets and lorry stations, and
- Projects yet to Commence in 2022.
The second phase of the presentation was centered on property rates collection in the Municipality.
He explained that, generally property rate collection in the municipality has not being good simply because the amount involve is very small and yet not all property owners agree to pay the rates as expected to the Assembly.
He went further to explain that looking at certain class of properties in the municipality, if you are to use the recent approved rates to calculate their amount it will be so huge for them to pay such an amount. So at the municipal level, some of the figures have to be reviewed to enable them get a reasonable figures for those properties. Participants were allowed to scrutinize the figures and to ask questions for clarification.
