The Techiman South Municipal Assembly on Friday 21st August 2026 presented Four hundred (400) furniture to selected basic school and four hundred and fifty (450) set of furniture to selected senior high schools in the municipality of which Hon. Kwaku Adjei Mensah MCE for Techiman municipal led the presentation. It took place at the compound of the Bonokyempem Hall in Techiman.

The presentation forms part of the core mandate of the Assembly. According to current government policy, it is mandatory for every Assembly to use ten percent of its Common Fund to procure furniture for schools within its jurisdiction.
The Municipal Chief Executive in his address said it is the core mandate of the Assembly to ensure that students feel comfortable in their quest to acquire education. He explained that wooden furniture is not durable and for that reason the Ministry has changed it to a more durable type. He urged teachers and school authorities to take keen interest in the maintenance of the items provided to make them last long.

In all, four hundred pieces of tables and chairs were delivered to selected basic schools. These are beneficiary schools and schools where government has built new classroom blocks. Fiaso M/A Primary C will receive one hundred set of furniture, Imam Seidu Islamic Primary will receive eighty set of furniture, while King Sawud JHS, Nsokone M/A Basic, Attaborso M/A Basic, Asubrofo M/A Basic, Koforidua Esereso M/A, Asensu M/A Basic, Abanaaba Primary, Asutia M/A School, Nsuta M/A Primary, Forikrom SDA School and Mawere Opoku M/A Primary will each receive twenty set of dual desks or furniture.
In addition, four hundred and fifty sets of tables and chairs will be distributed to six selected senior high schools in the municipality. The schools are Kwarteng Ankomah Senior High School, Yeboah Asiamah Senior High School, Kesse Basahyia Senior High School, Mount Carmel Senior High School, Gyarko E Block Senior High School and Islamic Senior High School.

Mr Isaac Amankwah assured Hon. Kwaku Adjei Mensah that the education service and the above beneficiaries will take very good care of the furniture to improve teaching and learning in the municipality and also ask for more when the need arises.
