The Techiman Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Kwaku Adjei Mensah has cut sod for the construction of a 3-unit classroom block at the Techiman Technical Institute at Bamiri Township on 16th September, 2026.

Kwaku Adjei Mensah, Presiding Member Mr, Issah Adams, the Municipal Development Planning Officer Mr. Abdul Aziz Toyibu, Assistant Director IIB Madam Yakubu Binta, Internal Auditor Mr. Ali Mohammed Basiru, Municipal Engineer Mr. Kofi Oduro, Headmaster of the school Mr. Boaham Alfred, some teachers and the contractor’s representative Mr. Senyo Emmanuel.

Addressing the gathering, the MCE acknowledged all dignitaries present. He said he is passionate about Technical and Vocational Education and Training because the world has shifted towards TVET. He explained that Germany was formerly leading the world in technical education and China studied the German system. According to him, China introduced an educational program called Agenda 50/50 where 50 percent of students did liberal education and 50 percent did technical education. He said China later realized that technical education is the best way for a country to develop and now does 80 percent technical education, which is why China has taken over global production. He noted that most items we use in our homes such as watches and shoes are made by people with technical skills. He stated that Ghana must now focus on technical education and that unemployment can be addressed through TVET. He pledged to provide all necessary support to make the Institute one of the best in the municipality. He also appealed to teachers to keep watch over the project and then cut the sod for work to commence.
