The MCE, Hon. Benjamin Yaw Gyarko, as part of his institutional working visit, met Staff of the Municipal Ghana Police Service yesterday, 6th June, 2022.
In his open remarks, he commended the officers for their effort to reduce crime rate in the Municipality and assured them of the Assembly’s support for them to continue their good works.
He appealed to them to display a high level of professionalism in their engagement with the public as a few bad nuts within the service are sinking their image.
He again appealed to the officers to be charitable to the drivers and farmers who transport foodstuffs from surrounding villages to Techiman especially officers who are stationed on Oforikrom road.
He added that, he has received complaints from Nananom and tricycle riders of the constant harassment of farmers by officers on that stretch.
He urged them to intensify their surveillance in the Municipality because of the Security Alert by the National Security on a possible terrorist attack in Ghana.
In an open forum, the District Crime Officer, ASP William Abayate shared their concerns with the MCE. It included the following:
1. Inadequate personnel
2. Lack of furniture
3. Called for the painting and fencing of the Municipal Police station and
4 . Poor lighting system at their facility.
The Oforikrom Station Officer Chief Inspector Dery Julius also asked the Assembly to provide them with street lights to improve the security situation at the Oforikrom station.
Constable Darko commended the MCE for his show of respect for Officers who are detailed to his residence.

Hon. Benjamin Yaw Gyarko gave the welcoming address to mark the Regional 2022 World Environment Day Celebration at Ahansua under the local theme” *Save the Tano River, Secure our Future *“.
Speaking on the theme, he informed the gathering of the efforts made by the Assembly to check environmental degradation.
He mentioned the setting up of Environmental Sub-Committee to assist in the resuscitation of depleted forest around the Tano river and check unauthorised sand and stone mining in the Municipality.
He planted a tree at the banks of Tano river to clímax the event.
* TECHIMAN MUNICIPAL TAKES DELIVERY OF 2000 BAGS OF FERTILISER UNDER PLANTING FOR FOR FOR FOOD AND JOBS(PFJ).
The Techiman Municipal yesterday, 6th June, 2022 took delivery of 2000 bags of subsidised fertiliser from the Ministry of Food and Agriculture.Per the arrangement, a farmer in the Municipality can access this facility from BALIWUD AGRO CHEMICALS opposite Market View Hotel at Wa station.
A farmer only needs to provide a National ID like Ghana card, Voter ID etc. and an active phone number.
