The Minister of Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development, Hon. Daniel Kwaku Botwe yesterday, 26th October,2023 cuts sod for the upgrading of Saase road with U-shape vertical drainage system, Gyaase road with U-shape vertical drainage system, Awerempem road, Tunsuoase roads with U-shape vertical drains and walkways and Green shade to Mr. Obed road at new Tunsuoase.
The rest includes, 2NO. Social Centers, 2NO. Traffic signals and an ultra-modern multipurpose Urban Park.
He said these projects will mark the phase III of the Ghana Secondary Cities Support Program initiated by the Government in 2018 with World Bank to improve urban management and basic urban services in the municipality.
He mentioned that, the funds for the phase 1 of the program was used to construct the ultra-modern Nana Abena market at Dwomor while the phase II fund was used to construct the U-shape vertical drains at Dwomor and the upgrading of DVLA and Abanmu roads.
He assured the gathering that, the funds for the projects has already been secured from the World Bank as a loan to the country and therefore money will never be an impediment in executing these projects.
The Bono East Regional Minister, Hon. Kwesi Adu-Gyan who gave the welcome address thanked the Hon. Daniel Botwe and Hon. Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah for the significant role they played in the creation of the six new regions by the Government which included the Bono East Region.
The MP for Techiman South Constituency who is also the Deputy Minister for Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development, Hon. Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah thanked the Government for selecting his Constituency among the beneficiary Municipalities in the Country.
He appealed to the contractors of the project to employ the local people in their work. He said the Municipality is blessed with professional drivers, masons, carpenters and electricians who can assist in their work.
He again urged them to prioritize quality service delivery to enhance the lifespan of the projects.
The MCE, Hon. Benjamin Yaw Gyarko on his part reiterated that, the source of funding for the projects is a credit facility secured from World Bank under the current Government and urged the general public to disregard any information which is contrary to his statement.
Among the dignitaries who witnessed the event was Nana Asare Baffuor Twi Brimpong (Adontehene, Techiman Traditional Area) and Nana Boakye Ameyaw Pentemprem( Nifahene, Techiman Traditional Council).
