REPORT ON THE COMMISSIONING OF A SIX-UNIT CLASSROOM BLOCK AND ANCILLARY FACILITIES AT IMAM SEIDU BASIC TANOSO.
The Techiman Municipal Assembly commissioned a newly constructed six-unit classroom block at Tanoso to improve teaching and learning conditions within the community. The facility comprises six classrooms, an administrative office, an Information and Communication Technology room, and a six-seater toilet facility.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by the Municipal Chief Executive, Municipal Director of Education, Assembly Member for the area, the contractor, traditional authorities, school management, teachers, pupils, parents and other community members.
Speaking at the ceremony, the contractor expressed appreciation to the Techiman Municipal Assembly and the community for their cooperation throughout the construction period. He stated that the project had been executed in accordance with the approved specifications and advised the school authorities to ensure regular maintenance of the facility.
The Headmaster expressed profound gratitude to the Government and the Municipal Assembly for providing the school with the new infrastructure. He explained that the facility would reduce classroom congestion, provide a more conducive learning environment and improve administrative work. He assured the gathering that the school would take proper care of the building, ICT equipment and sanitation facilities.
The Assembly Member for the Tanoso Electoral Area described the project as an important intervention that would enhance access to quality basic education in the community. He thanked the Municipal Chief Executive, the Assembly and all stakeholders who contributed to the successful completion of the project. He also appealed for additional educational facilities and furniture to meet the increasing enrolment in the area.
The Municipal Director of Education noted that the provision of the classroom block and ICT room would contribute significantly to improving educational outcomes. She encouraged teachers to make effective use of the facility and urged pupils to study hard and take advantage of the improved learning environment. She further called on parents and community members to support the school and protect the facility from misuse.
In his address, the Municipal Chief Executive stated that the project demonstrated the Government’s and the Assembly’s commitment to improving educational infrastructure and providing equal learning opportunities for children within the Municipality. He urged the school authorities and the community to adopt a strong maintenance culture to preserve the facility for future generations. He also encouraged teachers to remain dedicated to their duties and pupils to strive for academic excellence.
The facility was officially commissioned and handed over to the Ghana Education Service and the school authorities for use. The ceremony ended with an inspection of the classrooms, office, ICT room and toilet facility by the invited dignitaries and community members.
The completion and commissioning of the facility are expected to improve access to quality education, enhance ICT teaching and learning, promote effective school administration and improve sanitation conditions at the school.
